Founder & Member of the Board of Trustees
In 2013, Aqil visited Bangladesh to observe the healthcare system in place. The experience brought forth the realisation that there was an immense disparity in the quality of healthcare in developing countries. On his return to the UK, Aqil founded Maa with a vision to improve maternal health and since then, he’s been working tirelessly to design projects with the Maa team to help support mothers around the world.
Aqil is currently a medical student at King’s College London and holds a degree in Immunobiology & Infectious Diseases. Aqil’s achievements have earned him accolades including the prestigious Harris Ahmed Award, as well as the Diana Award for outstanding services to the community. He has also held notable positions in the past, including president of the KCL Bangladesh Society and KCL Disability Awareness Society. His passion for social welfare and global health is what motivates him, as Maa steps closer to improving maternal healthcare in resource-poor settings.
